The Lamb and Flag is a Grade II listed public house at Rose Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2. [1] The building is erroneously said to date back to Tudor times, and to have been a licensed premises since 1623, but in fact dates from the early 18th century. [2] The building became a pub in 1772. [2]

There has been a pub on this site since 1772, originally the Cooper's Arms, acquiring its current appellation in 1833. The name Lamb and Flag has a religious origin, the sign showing the Agnus Dei, the Lamb of God, but by the nineteenth century it had lost any pretentions to meekness and had earned a reputation as a venue for bare-knuckle.
